ALL NATURAL, NO WORRIES

Our Favorite Allergy-Free Recipe Creators.

Seeing that look on your child's face when they can't eat something because of their allergies is heart-breaking. These food bloggers help turn that look of disappointment into a smile!

"Doughnuts?!"

After learning my daughter Genevieve had food allergies, we started a monthly tradition. I would ask "what was something she'd like to eat but couldn't" and we would attempt to make an allergy-free version.

"Doughnuts" was the answer I usually got.

Now that she's a teenager Genevieve's moved on from doughnuts. She enjoys searching for new recipe ideas and making dishes she could never have before.

And there is no shortage of recipes for her to try thanks to some brilliant, creative people on the internet. Genevieve has been able to find a recipe for everything she's wanted to make...yes, even doughnuts!

I am so appreciative of these allergen-free recipe creators she's found. They provide a much-needed service for food allergy sufferers and their families.

Seeing that look on your child's face when they cannot have something is heartbreaking. Having these recipe creators as a resource is a great way to turn that look of disappointment into a smile.

Below, in no particular order, are a few of our favorite recipe creators:

Nicole Dawson

Reading Nicole's story of how they found out her youngest child has food allergies was compelling. Many of us have similar stories so it's comforting to know she understands what food allergy parents go through.

Discovering your child has severe food allergies is definitely a life changing event. As Nicole says, "Food was no longer something to just eat, but it was a matter of life and death".

"Food was no longer something to just eat, but it was a matter of life and death".

She states that while her old world closed in, a new bigger and better one opened for her and her family. After finding out her son had anaphylactic food allergies, Nicole spent countless hours tweaking and perfecting her recipes. This led to her releasing her first cookbook, Sweet Cheats.

Nicole also went back to school to become a Board-Certified Health Coach. Now, through her blog and coaching she's helping families live with food allergies.

Nicole's infectious smile and energy make her one of our favorite allergen-free food bloggers. Her recipes are well laid out, easy to follow and always delicious!

Megan Jill Lavin

Megan says that tweaking recipes to be allergy friendly is her addiction! That can happen when you're a mother of four, two with multiple food allergies and one with EOE.

Her world was turned upside down when her son got diagnosed with eosinophilic esophagitis (EOE). A rare disease that meant Megan now had over 30 food allergies to contend with.

"You can give up ingredients, but you don’t have to give up awesomeness."

After the diagnoses, she got to work and relearned everything she knew about cooking.

Since then Megan has published a cookbook and started her blog, AllergyAwesomeness.com. On her blog she loves to share her recipes that make life a little bit more awesome.

We love her blog not only because of the AWESOME recipes she creates but because the care she puts into every recipe shines through. Megan is also extremely helpful and tries to respond to every comment on her social media pages.

Nicole Ciuppa, RD

Having multiple anaphylactic food allergies has not stopped Nicole from enjoying food.

She grew up in an Italian-American home where the kitchen was a place the family bonded. After her diagnoses, Nicole's family adapted their traditional recipes to keep her safe. She continues this tradition on her blog nutritionallynicole.com.

"Nutrition is important but so is the enjoyment of life."

As a registered dietitian, Nicole believes it is possible for food allergy sufferers to enjoy what they eat while maintaining optimal nutrition. This belief comes through in her recipes and her advocacy for food allergy awareness.

And while her recipes are great, we love her because she is such a wonderful role model for my daughter. Her passion for life and her work is a perfect example for young adults with food allergies.

As a food allergy parent, I have so much admiration and appreciation for these women. They truly make our lives with food allergies better so please join me in supporting their work.

You can do so by following them on social media, sharing their content and joining their newsletters. Thank you!
